The Freedom of Home Birth
Picture your baby’s birth just as you want it to be. Where are you most comfortable? Perhaps in the comfort of your own bedroom or family room. What makes you feel at ease? Your favorite music, candlelight, the view from your window or a maybe soaking in a hot tub. Whose face(s) do you want to see? Your partner, your friends, your family. You decide.

Throughout most of the world, and most of history, women have labored and birthed with midwives. It is only in the last few decades that birth has become medicalized; and it has become common to birth in a hospital setting with a doctor. Birth is a natural process, not a sickness. With a normal, healthy pregnancy women can birth safely and comfortably at home with a midwife.

At a home birth with a midwife you are in control of your birth. Midwives trust in the birth process and the instincts of the birthing woman. Unlike a typical hospital birth, you are free to choose where you labor and birth, what positions you want to labor in and who will be with you. The birthing woman is the real expert about the best way to birth her baby. My role as a midwife is to monitor labor, and guide and support you safely through the birth process.
